"I actually would have preferred to stay in a more expensive hotel closer to the beach.
The housekeeping staff and other line employees were very nice and helpful. When I asked at the front desk about high speed internet connections for my PC, I was politley told, "It's Best Western". The phone in the room could not make local connections. I didn't pursue the matter. I had a cell phone.
One important point: If Best Western is going to provide only basic hotel services, the beds should be much better. The mattress was just OK and the fitted bottom sheets didn't fit right and kept coming off. In the middle of the night there was a pile of sheets and blankets in the middle of the bed. That is unacceptable.
I commend BW for surveying their guests. Question # 7 is the most important question on the survey. However, you should rate it from 1-10 and study December 2003 Harvard Business Review's article on just that subject. Very revealing study on guest surveys, the importance of "word of mouth advertising" and increasing market share."
